Emerge’s Rate Pulse helps shippers understand what market rates for lanes are when building quotes. With this tool, Emerge can help shippers save money by showing market prices based on available lane data.
-
What is Rate Pulse?
-
Rate Pulse analyzes the best available current and historical data for your lane and organization. When building a Quote, Rate Pulse automatically populates without having to hit submit. The immediate availability of the Estimated Market Rate makes it easier to compare an existing rate to the market or incorporate estimated shipping costs into your processes.
-
In addition, Rate Pulse makes it easier to confidently set a Book It Now rate by providing a Suggested Book it Now Price below the Estimated Market Rate.
- Once you've created your quote, you can also see your rate pulse in the Quote Details section of the quote whether you created it manually, through API, or bulk upload.
-
-
Why would I use Rate Pulse?
-
Rate Pulse allows users to view the Estimated Market Rate of a quote without losing time soliciting feedback from Network Partners and Emerge’s Marketplace. It also provides context for where to set Book it Now rates to help you get loads covered more quickly and cost-effectively.

-
How is my Estimated Market Rate calculated?
-
There are two main drivers of the Estimated Market Rate: the market average provided by industry leaders and your buying history. We analyze your buying history by comparing awarded rates to market rates on similar lanes when the quote is created, and then apply that percentage to the current market rate.
-
-
How are the market ranges calculated?
-
Market ranges are based on the most recent market data, from 3 to 30 days depending on how common any given lane is for shippers across the country. They reflect how similar quotes were awarded across the market.
-
-
I have a special scenario that impacts rates. Does Rate Pulse incorporates that?
-
Our algorithm evaluates your spending history by considering the total award value. This means that if a specific lane is awarded 10% higher than your other lanes due to a special scenario, the increased value will automatically be included in determining the Estimated Market Rate for that lane.
-
-
What is not taken into consideration for Rate Pulse?
-
Rate Pulse does not currently consider accessorials, drop trailers, commodities, weight, reefer temperatures, hazmat requirements, team drivers, or pick up lead time.
-
-
What Equipment Types are supported by Rate Pulse?
-
Rate Pulse supports Van, Reefer, and Flatbed loads.
-
-
Rate Pulse does not populate for my desired lane. When will information populate?
-
We rely on market data to populate Rate Pulse. If there is not enough recent data on your chosen lane, Rate Pulse will not populate.
-
-
Why does the Estimated Market Rate value show as Linehaul Only or All-In?
-
The value displayed for Estimated Market Rate is correlated to your fuel preferences in the Fuel Surcharge page in your organization's settings.
