As a Shipper you have the ability to create Quotes for capacity providers to bid on. When creating Quotes, it’s important to remember that providing as much information as possible will result in more accurate pricing.
-
Once logged in you will be brought to the Quotes page. Click CREATE to begin building a quote.
-
Select Quote on the menu that appears.
-
Click CREATE QUOTE for either Full Truckload or Volume/Partial. Note: Emerge’s platform is primarily tailored towards Full Truckload shipments, so receiving accurate pricing on Volume/Partial loads may be more difficult.
-
You will be taken to the Create Quote page where you can begin entering the details of the load you would like moved.
-
If you've recently created a Quote or have previously saved a Quote Template, you can have the information auto-fill next time you create a quote by clicking VIEW RECENT/TEMPLATES in the upper right hand corner.
-
You will see all RECENT QUOTES that you have created, which you can select and automatically populate lane and load data in the quote.
- Click QUOTE TEMPLATES to view any saved templates you have created, and select one that you want to populate into the quote you are creating.
-
When you type in the City, State, and/or zip code in the Stop 1 or 2 Location fields a drop down menu will you appear where you can select the properly formatted location.
-
Click the Address Book icon to view any locations you have saved prior to building a quote.
-
The Address Book pop up window will appear where you can search for addresses that you have saved. Click SELECT to have the address populate in the location field.
-
Click the Stop Type drop down menu to choose if the stop is a Pick or Drop.
-
Click Appointment Type to choose if it will be FCFS (First Come First Serve), Appointment, Drop Trailer if the carrier will need to leave a trailer on site, or Trailer Pool if multiple trailers need to be on site at once.
-
Click Start Date to select the date you would like the load to be picked up or delivered.
-
A calendar window will appear, allowing you to select the date. Click OK when done.
-
Click Partner to schedule if the Network Partner will need to work directly with the facility to set an appointment. You can enter the Dock and Dock Close to denote hours of operation for the facility as well as add any Stop Notes, such as instructions for the driver before picking up or dropping off a load. You are also able to add more stops to the load by clicking ADDITIONAL STOP and filling out the same fields as the first two stops. Complete these steps for all stops in the quote.
-
Once you have chosen the Pickup and Delivery, you will see Rate Pulse in the Quote Summary field on the right hand of the screen reveal the Estimated Line Haul Only Market Rate. This shows you the estimated current Low, Average, and High rates for the specific Origin and Destination pairing you have selected. Use the information to better understand what you can expect to pay to move the load. Click Learn more to view the Rate Pulse FAQ page.
-
The default selection is Bidding Only, which means carriers will able to bid on the load. If you select Bidding with Book It Now, you will see a suggested rate to make the load available for carriers to book without having to bid. If you would like to set the Book It Now rate yourself, click CHANGE. Note: If you are a shipper set up with Tender Flow, Bidding with Book It Now is only possible if the Stop Locations are chosen from the Address Book.
-
You will still see the Line Haul Suggested Rate, but you can type in your own Book It Now Rate by clicking into the Rate * field.
-
After filling out the necessary information for the stops, you can select the Equipment Type from the drop down menu, as well as the Length(ft) of the equipment. You are also able to include any Accessorials necessary for the load.
-
Once you’ve chosen the Accessorials, if any, fill out the Commodity field with a description of the commodity, the Weight field with the weight, Unit Type, and Unit Ct. Note: The weight of the commodity may affect pricing. The maximum weight of a Full Truckload is 45,000.
-
If the Commodity is a hazardous material, click the Hazmat check box. Treat the fields that appear below as required, as there are different certifications for different hazardous materials. NOTE: Hazmat certified carriers can be more difficult to source than non-Hazmat carriers. Loads with hazardous materials may also cost more than loads without hazardous materials.
-
In the Quote Details section you can choose if you want Tracking Required or if it is a Hot Load. A Customer Reference # is required, but you are also able to add other ways to identify the load by clicking ADD REFERENCE #. You can also include the Customer Name, Cargo Value, any General Notes that the carrier should know when bidding, and any Tags that you use to identify certain shipments.
-
Click the Reference Type to view a drop down menu of the different types of references.
- Select the Reference Type you want from the list, which includes:
- Appointment
- BOL
- Delivery
- Other
- Pickup
- Pickup Confirmation
- PO
- PRO
- Trailer
-
In the Quote Preferences section, you can toggle Request All Network Partners to send the quote to any Network Partners you have added, as well as toggle Enable Bid Duration to determine how long you would like to leave the quote up for bidding. Choosing Auto Tender if Bid Duration is turned on will automatically tender the load to the lowest option once the time is up. Click here to learn How to Adjust Quote Preferences.
-
Once you have entered as much information about the shipment as possible, click CREATE QUOTE. You can also save the information you entered for the Quote by clicking SAVE QUOTE TEMPLATE.
- If you click SAVE QUOTE TEMPLATE, a pop up will appear. Enter a Name, click which parts of the Quote you would like to save in the Template, and click SUBMIT.
